A Day at Worthing Pavilion Bowling Club for St. Andrews CE High School

In accordance with the policy of Worthing Pavilion Bowling of promoting bowls to all, either young and not so young whether able body or disabled, some pupils of St Andrews CE High School from years 9/10 were given the opportunity to experience lawn bowls at first hand on the 4th of July.

The school encourages their pupils to experience as many facets of life outside of school as possible and with this in mind they brought 30+ boys to Worthing Pavilion Bowling Club. They were welcomed to the club by a director. The coaches then took the boys to the indoor air conditioned rinks for getting used to bowls several by bowling different targets set by the coaches. After several variations of target bowls they then broke for a lunch. After lunch a triples competition was organised. There were two set of Winners the highest scoring rink and the winners of the triples competition.

After the competition the boys were asked for their candid opinion. “I thought it was only a game for old people, but it was really fun”, “I’m thinking of going back and joining”

The club thanks the staff at St Andrews who attended with the boys and who helped make the day go without a hitch.
