Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre Rebirth

Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre Rebirth Celebrations A Huge Success
For over 30 years the Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre has served the community of Worthing and its hinterland. On Tuesday 10th May the Children’s Centre celebrated this outstanding accomplishment and has now launched its rebirth. This revival is to demonstrate to the community that we have the infrastructure, experienced personnel and the fortitude to serve pre-school children and their parent’s for countless more years to come.
Our patron, The Duchess of Norfolk, led the celebrations and we were honoured that so many eminent guests joined us in the celebrations. They included the Lord Lieutenant of Sussex Mrs Susan Pyper and the Mayor of Worthing Councillor Ann Sayers. Representatives from , the West Sussex County Council, Worthing Borough Council, Worthing Hospital, Masonic Lodges of Worthing, Rotary, Lions, Round Table, Royal Society of St George, Local Schools, Chamber of Commerce, Health Visiting Teams, Worthing Churches Homeless and importantly local businesses were in attendance.
Her Grace accepted on behalf of the Trustees three very generous donations. The Sussex British Classic Motorcycle Owners Club presented a cheque for £1,000, the proceeds of a Classic Motorcycle Rally that they held on our behalf. The Rotary Clubs of Worthing, West Worthing, Worthing Steyne and Arundel presented a cheque for £1,500 which has allowed us to buy some much needed special equipment. And, Sainsbury’s, Lyons Farm, presented a cheque for £1,830, the proceeds of our Charity of the Year status.
The rebirth celebrations gave us the opportunity the launch our new branding and website –

The website was constructed by Melissa Young a graphic designer and a parent. Photographs used in the website were taken by Graham Frank’s father of one of our nursery nurses. Both kindly donated their time and we are indeed very grateful for these gifts in kind.

The Hospitality Students of Northbrook College who are studying for their Level 1 and 2 City and Guilds VRQ and NVQ provided the refreshments at the celebrations and many positive comments came from the guests on the professional way they conducted themselves.
The rebirth also gave us the opportunity to announce to our audience the results of our recent exceptional Ofsted report and for the Trustees to praise the Children’s Centre staff for their continued dedication and commitment. They have a combined total of nearly 250 years’ experience as qualified nursery nurses, which is a true testament in its self of the experience to be found at the Camelia Botnar Children’s Centre.

We are very encouraged by the support we have from the various agencies that refer children to us, our parents and increasingly, the local clubs and associations who have thus far provided us with some of the much needed funds. For over 30 years we were fortunate to have the financial patronage of Nissan UK and The Camelia Botnar Foundation. Unfortunately that funding has been lost and we are now seeking funding from all sources to keep our centre operational for the benefit of the local community. We realise that the present financial climate is hurting people on many fronts, however we are appealing to any company, group or association or indeed any individual to think of us if when considering allocating any funds to a charitable cause. Any financial help would be gratefully received.
