Digital Photography Made Easy

It seems a long time until spring; the festivities of Christmas are now a distant memory – what’s to look forward to?

The Rural Computer Centre at Lodge Hill, near Pulborough, could help to brighten these dull days. We run friendly digital photography courses for all abilities – beginners, improvers and advanced – so, if it’s a new hobby you’re looking for, or you want to brush away the cobwebs, we have something for you.

Perhaps, you received a new digital camera for Christmas and are a bit unsure how to use it – or, are thinking of purchasing one and could do with a bit of help. We have a half-day course “Exploring Your Digital Camera” aimed at beginners to this exciting hobby – it’s informal, friendly and, as one of our recent members told us: “The day flew by and I really enjoyed yesterday. I guess most of us experience an element of apprehension in attending any ‘classes’ but I was soon feeling very relaxed and comfortable.”

If you’re a bit unsure about downloading your images to the computer, sorting them out, printing and emailing them, our half-day “Downloading, Emailing and Printing” course aims to take out the mystique and simplify the processes. Or, you may want to take it a step further and do some practical work at improving the images. Picasa is a free program for organising and editing photos and we offer a complete day for you to explore this program.

“Before I started the classes I only had a digital camera for 6 months and had no idea how to download photographs from the camera or file them sensibly. I had no idea what I was buying so the capabilities of the camera had escaped me completely. Thanks to your willingness and ability to pass on information in a sensible and easy to follow format I can now comprehend the basics of digital photography and end up with photographs of what I envisage and want, not what a professional processor thinks I should have.”

By this time, you are probably ‘hooked’ on the hobby and want to do more! This is where our longer courses on Adobe PhotoShop Elements come to the fore. Elements is a specialised photo-editing program where you can learn to fully develop your photos and be creative with them. The series of courses are useful for anyone struggling with PhotoShop, too, as many of the tools and techniques remain the same.
