Double Celebration

Broadwater C of E First & Middle SchoolPupils, parents, staff and governors at Broadwater C of E First and Middle School are thrilled and delighted that both the OFSTED and Church Inspection reports on their school have graded the school as “Outstanding.” Out of a total of 36 judgements 25 were “outstanding”. There are very few schools in the country that have such a positive profile of judgements.

The Chairman of Governors, Mrs Liz Crockett, commented, “Everyone associated with our school, should be justifiably proud of these exemplary reports. The contents fully endorse our belief - that Broadwater is an exceptional school.”

The report praised the newly formed headship team of part-time Principal and Full-time Headteacher which gives the school a very solid base from which to move forwards.

Principal, Janet Sharp, explained “All the developments we have introduced have been for the benefit of the children at Broadwater and I think that probably the best accolade was as the inspectors were leaving, two of them said they wished they lived closer as they would like their children to attend Broadwater C E School”. The Chair of Governors, Principal and Headteacher congratulated and thanked the excellent staff team, the outstanding pupils, the work of many talented and generous volunteers, dedicated governors and supportive parents. Headteacher, Jez Wong remarked, “I am thrilled by the outcome of our inspections. It’s a testament to the  fantastic and hard-working school community we have here – pupils, parents, staff, governors and parish alike.”

The school is also celebrating becoming the National Under 9’s Chess Champions at the recent finals in Nottingham. Our team are coached by one of our parents, Mr Graham who runs our very popular Chess Club. We are so thrilled that our pupils did spectacularly in this – having won the Sussex round, they came runners up in the South of England competition and went on to win the National Event. Many of the team are still under 8’s. Our under 8 team have recently won the Mega Final and are now going onto the Giga Final which is in Reading.
