Merry May: A Call To Action!

May is traditionally called the merry month, thanks to warmer weather, sprouting flowers and crops and rising energy levels. As we move into summer, are you contented or are you feeling frustrated by your lack of progress with your personal goals?

To everyone else, what is stopping you? Could it be procrastination? This stumbling block leads to stress, anxiety and a poor outcome. It encompasses a fear of failure, achievement, rejection or embarrassment.

The good news is that it can be overcome by simply reassuring yourself. I’m always good enough, even when things I do don’t work out (fear of failure).

What’s the worst thing that can happen? (A fear of being embarrassed.). Nothing people do to me is personal; they have their own reasons and anxieties that make them behave badly towards me at times (fear of rejection).

I’m worth going the extra mile for (fear of achievement). Remember - “The best way to get something done is to begin” - Author unknown.

A great way of overcoming procrastination and progressing quickly is to organise an Action Day. Get friends or family on board. Decide what you want to achieve, how and when you will start and finish.

At the beginning of the day, ring or speak to a friend or family member, discuss what you are going to do in the first hour and then go for it.

After 55 minutes, ring again and give a brief report on what you have achieved and what you want to do next. Follow this pattern for as long as you are able. The result will be amazing - you will even be planning your next action day!
