Miniature Steam Train Rides at Field Place
The new season of miniature steam train rides at Field Place begins in April when the Worthing & District Society of Model Engineers open their track after the winter break. The Worthing Engineers will also be bringing out their portable track on April 29th, Royal Wedding day, when it forms part of the celebrations at the Warwick Street Party. Rides will be available there between 10.00am and 5.00pm.
The first rides at Field Place will be on Sunday, April 10th between 2.00pm and 5.00pm.
The following Sunday, April 17th, sees the Sussex Family History Group holding their Family & Local History Day at Field Place between 10.00am and 4.30pm. The event will be attended by East and West Sussex Record Offices, Family and Local History Societies, Trade Stalls, the Sussex Family History Group Bookstall and Family History Talks will be given. Refreshments will be available and there is free entry and parking. The Worthing Engineers will be running miniature steam trains during the day in support of this event.
Sunday, April 24th, Easter Sunday, is RNLI day when a proportion of the train fares will be donated to the RNLI. In addition to the normal miniature steam train rides there will be model boats on display and in action in the boating pool. In further support of the RNLI there will be a tombola. The activities take place between 2.00pm and 5.00pm. All miniature train rides at Field Place are priced at 50p for adults and children. Refreshments are available at all running sessions. Field Place is situated off The Boulevard, Worthing, near Durrington-on-Sea railway station.
