Miracle Boy author visits Worthing Library.
Acclaimed author Michael Reilly will be at Worthing Library in October to talk about his novel ‘Miracle Boy’.
Like the hero of his novel, Michael grew up in children’s homes during the 1950s and 1960s and developed a passion for literature from an early age. His short story collection was warmly received and won first prize for short fiction at the Huddersfield Literature Festival.
The novel has been described by Book Guild Publishing as “heartbreaking and heart-warming in equal measure”.
Budding writers will be able to talk to Michael about moving into writing as a career and getting published for the first time. He will also be available to sign copies of his novel.
‘Miracle Boy’ has been highly recommended to reading groups as an excellent novel to discuss. Worthing Library is offering a limited number of complimentary copies, courtesy of Book Guild Publishing, for reading groups to share and read in advance of the event.
Lionel Barnard, Deputy Leader of West Sussex County Council with responsibility for Libraries, said: “This is a welcome opportunity to meet an author and hear him talk first hand about his work. The novel is highly topical as more information has come to light about the care system for children and young people.”
Tickets at £3 are available from Worthing Library or contact any West Sussex Library via www.westsussex.gov.uk/libraries
Soft drinks and refreshments will be available and people are invited to bring a bottle!
The events starts at 7.00pm on Friday October 7 at Worthing Library, Richmond Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 1HD. Telephone:01903 704809.
