Never say never!
It’s never too late to make changes to your life.
You hear people who say I always wanted to do something different but I’m too old now or I always wanted to change my job, but it’s too late.
Whether you are 30, 40, 50, 60 or 70, it’s never too late - you just need the determination to do it.
‘Failure is not fatal but failure to change might be.’ John Wooden. Have you tried to make changes before? If they worked then well done - if not what happened? Could it be that you tried to make the change too quickly?
How many times have you rushed into making changes in your life - a habit change, learning a new skill, only to have it flop? Did you run out of steam or get discouraged and give up? Try slowing down, this will help you become more effective and focused, and ironically it helps you reach goals faster. Be mindful, hold yourself back to avoid running out of motivation and enthusiasm. Learn to do something correctly so that it becomes second nature. Now is the time to book onto adult education courses to start learning that new skill.
Another change so important for parents is letting go and stepping back. How much space do you give your children/teenagers? Are you stressed by the state of their bedrooms? How much energy do you use nagging them? Firstly remember as they get older it is their personal space, secondly nagging achieves little except resentment. Instead try having a relaxed chat with them enhanced by their favourite food and agree a better way forward. Good Luck!
Support for making those changes is the theme for the day workshop Cecily is running on Wednesday September 21, (£30 or £25 if booked by beginning of September). Contact her now on 01903 600213 or
