New help at home service from local charity.

The Lend a hand service has been set up by the Independent Living Association (ILA), a Worthing based charity who support disabled people to live independently.  The majority of our customers use Direct Payments provided by West Sussex County Council to make their own care arrangements, and the ILA provides advice, support and information to assist those people in achieving this.

The Lend a hand service seeks to provide support with housekeeping in customers’ homes, including cleaning, laundry, ironing, dish washing etc. and is available to everyone.

The aim is to offer a high quality domestic service, responsive to the wide ranging needs of customers.

The ILA offers a number of services which are available to both Direct Payment customers, private customers and local businesses.  We are a user-led organisation, and develop our services in response to what our customers tell us they need.

Our services include:
Payroll - helping both individual employers and organisations to manage their employees’ pay.

CRB checks – providing criminal records checks for employees.

Employer - support to recruit and manage staff.

As a charity, the ILA uses profits from all these services to help fund its charitable activities.

The plan is to expand the Lend a hand service in Autumn 2010 to include a care service, so watch this space.

If you would like to find out more, or are interested in using the Lend a hand service, or any other services, please contact the ILA:
