Osprey Explorer Sea Scouts

Worthing Pavilion Bowling Club in accordance with its pro active approach to introduce bowls to the younger generation entertained Explorer Scouts (aged 15 to 18) from Osprey Explorer Sea Scout to an evening of Bowls on Wednesday night 15th of September,

The club coaches had their hands full with such a larger than expected number of participants but agreed after the three hour session it was a good introduction to bowls to the scouts and showed how good the game is; which surprised most of the participants

The feed back from the Explorers was as follows.
Mr Paul Chaplin (Explorer Scout Leader, Assistant Scout Leader, Assistant Group Scout Leader, County Assessor - Canoe/Kayak) stated; I’ve just checked back on our register and this evening was the best attendance we’ve had all year! We don’t normally get that many turn up to any of our activities. (38 explorers and 5 leaders)
 
A massive thank you from Osprey Explorer Sea Scout Unit to you and your coaches for their time this evening, and use of your facilities. I personally had a great time and I know the other Leaders and Explorer Scouts did too. Apologies that a few of the younger ones got a bit restless towards the end, but I know that most of the others would have been happy to bowl all night!
 
I think lawn bowls does have an unfair reputation for being an old person’s game and this evening definitely helped to dispel that assumption with lots of comments like: “Oh, that was much more fun than I was expecting”!
 
We hope to see you all again soon.

The club thanks the Leaders of the Explorer group who attended with the Scouts and who helped make the Evening go without a hitch.
