Queen Alexandra Hospital Open Day.
“Forces Sweetheart” Dame Vera Lynn DBE to host Open Day in support of disabled ex-Service personnel at the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home.
The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home is to once again hold its annual Open Day within the grounds of the Home on Saturday 9th July 2011 from 1.30-4pm. Over recent years the Open Day has become a firm favourite amongst local residents, offering plenty of exciting entertainment and attractions for all the family.
This year, Open Day is sponsored by the Worthing Branch of Thomas Eggar LLP, the law firm of choice for businesses and private clients. It is the biggest event in the charity’s fundraising calendar and last year raised almost £10,000 towards the care and rehabilitation of disabled ex-Servicemen and women at QAHH. It also offers members of the public a unique opportunity to tour the home and find out more about the charity’s work.
Hosted by the original “Forces Sweetheart” Dame Vera Lynn DBE, Open Day 2011 will celebrate the service background of many of the Home’s residents with a performance from the Band of the Adjutant General’s Corps. There will be plenty of other entertainment, refreshments, and stalls available on the day including a Grand Prize Draw with a number of fantastic prizes including a two night stay in London with tickets to see the Lion King, as well as a show at Wembley Stadium and evening meals all paid for!
There will also be signed football shirts from Brighton and Hove Albion FC, Fulham FC and many more outstanding prizes up for grabs on the day so come along for your chance to win!
Entry to Open Day is just £2 for adults and accompanied children go free. For more information about the day or to purchase entrance or grand draw tickets pop into reception at QAHH, email or call the fundraising team on 01903 218444.
Each year, the Home relies upon the community pulling together to volunteer their time and donate items for the cake, bottle and book stalls and tombola in order to make Open Day a success. So whether you can rally up your friends and family to get baking, or if you can donate anything from a bottle of ketchup to a case of wine, please remember every little helps!
Donations can be handed into reception Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm. We also require volunteers to help with setting up, manning stalls, and clearing up. If you are free and would like to volunteer your time on the day, please call the fundraising team on 01903 218444 to register your interest today.
