Skimming Device

Reports have been received with regards to a skimming device attached to a cash machine in Broadwater. Several debit/credit cards have been cloned and money taken from their accounts.

Things to consider when using a cash point

A false card slot is attached over the original card slot. The false slot holds a “skimmer” that is used to copy the card information. It will look considerably the same as the original – Please look out for any loose/wobbly parts at the card slot. If it looks or feels suspicious please report to the bank or Police immediately.

A pinhole camera is mounted in a position which allows it to view the ATM PIN entries – Always be careful to shield your PIN when using a cash machine. Use a free hand to cover the key pad while you enter your PIN and be aware of anyone acting suspiciously around you.

This cash machine has now been repaired and no other reports received.
