West Tarring Boys Club - Paintballing November 27th 2010

West Tarring Boys ClubOur final off-site activity of the year was a full day of Paintballing at Victorywood near Crawley on Saturday November 27th. What appeared to be a good idea at the time of making the booking in early September rapidly became a demonstration of insanity on the day.

It did not bode well when at 8am the car dashboard showed an outside air temperature of minus 1c and although for an hour around lunchtime the temperature did rise to freezing point the six hours of Paintballing were played in sub-zero temperatures.

With our twelve players amongst the other 200 plus contestants there was little time to sit around and freeze and surprisingly none of our boys had to pull out through the effects of the cold, although three adults taking part in the day did collapse and had to be revived by centre staff.

The only downside (apart from the cold weather) to the day was when some lowlife stole 300 paintballs from our boys equipment even though our club equipment was stacked in one place and could not have been mistaken for anyone else’s. At the end of the day, which because it was so busy finished late and with the boys shooting in the dark, our team had an assortment of bruises from the Paintballs, as well as odd cuts and scrapes from the activity.

We had four of our junior leaders. Felix, Matt, Joseph and George, amongst our team of twelve and our thanks to them for helping the younger boys throughout the day and demonstrating why they have been selected to be a junior leader.

The next Paintballing day is scheduled for March when hopefully the weather will be warmer, details will be distributed as soon as the booking is confirmed and anyone wishing to take part should let us know ASAP as places will again be limited.
