Women's World Day of Prayer
This is the one day of the year when women from all round the
world unite to hold a service of praise and thanksgiving and on this occasion
they do all sing from the same hymn sheet
The annual service for 2010 has been prepared by the women of
Cameroon and has a definite African flavour.
The Republic of Cameroon is said to be ‘Africa in miniature’. It is a country of great cultural diversity
with more than 240 ethnic groups and languages.
The constitution promotes equality between men and women but traditional
rights and attitudes discriminate against women in many areas of life. However giant steps have been taken towards
assuring women’s rights and women are involved in the struggle for peace,
justice and integrity.
The women from all the churches in Broadwater are once more
demonstrating their solidarity with their brothers and sisters in other
countries and are joining with the rest
of the world.
All are welcome at St
Mary’s Parish Church in Broadwater at 10am when the speaker will be Reverend
Anne Marie Crosse.
